9-10 August 2002 - Montenegro
After Kosovo, I pedalled up and down one of the most mountainous countries in Europe - Montenegro.
After the climb to the border, my first photo from Yugoslavia.
Montenegro is by no means flat.
For a cyclist this means it is either great pain or in this case great joy.
The main road is cut into sheer rock.
And if you fall off the road, survival is not at all probable.
The scenery was generally stunning.
For much of the time, the road followed the valley of a white-water river.
This led gradually downhill to the Montenegrin capital Podgorica.
Podgorica itself is surrounded by hills of rock like that on the moon.
